Television Service While Traveling

In June 2020 we said farewell to Dish Satellite TV and started a subscription with YouTube TV. We had two accounts with Dish; one receiver and satellite antenna for the home and one receiver with a Tailgater satellite antenna while we were traveling.

Over time we had become disenchanted with satellite TV service. Our biggest gripe was weather and satellite positioning related. During inclement weather, the satellite signal would be poor to nonexistent until the weather cleared. Since we travel six months each year, setting up the Tailgater antenna and accessing an unobstructed view of the southern sky could become a hassle at times. This became even more of a pain when we would only spend one night while traveling.

We decided there had to be a better way to access TV service at home and while traveling. With the advent of internet streaming services, there is indeed a way to “cut the cord” with cable and satellite television service. After researching several internet streaming services we decided YouTube TV would fit our needs perfectly. With our home internet service , it would allow us to stream all of our favorite television programs to our television set, smartphones, tablets and computers. With our Verizon Cellular service it would allow us to stream those same programs to our smartphones, tablets and computer while traveling. No antennas needed, no more concerns with weather! Another upside is on our travels throughout the U.S. we have encountered very few areas where we did not receive a Verizon signal.

We have had YouTube TV service for over a year now and are very pleased with the service. At home we have never had a problem. On our travel from Illinois to Arizona and the return trip home, we did not encounter any area we were unable to stream YouTube TV to our electronic devices.

At this point in time we are “happy campers” and bid a fond farewell to cable and satellite television service. You served us well until something better came along.
