Hot Air Balloon Visit
Yuma, Arizona
Late this afternoon a pickup truck carrying a hot air balloon, basket, and crew, arrived at the Imperial Dam BLM, LTVA. They set up the balloon near the North Shore of the Senator Wash Reservoir. Around 5:00 p.m., the balloon was inflated and a crew of two climbed into the basket and ascended gently into the clear blue sky above. It seemed to remain in one location as it gained altitude, probably about 500 feet, and then descended near ground level. It did this twice and as it ascended for the third time, it gained a higher altitude, probably about 1,000 feet, and then gently floated off toward the south before it finally descended and touched down on the sparse desert floor of southwestern Arizona.
Tomorrow another adventure begins.
