Our four-month snowbird adventure begins!
Our journey this winter will take us to the following locations:
- Memphis, Tennessee
- Texarkana, Texas
- San Antonio, Texas
- New Orleans, Louisiana
- Naples, Florida and other locations throughout Florida
We departed Chicago at 7:15 a.m. under a cloudy sky with a light rain and the temperature in the mid-40’s. About 300 miles south of Chicago we were greeted with a partly sunny sky. We were delighted to finally leave the gloomy overcast sky and light rain behind us.
A cold front is approaching Chicago with a dusting of wet snow forecast for Monday. We are so glad to be heading south and not have to deal with that white stuff anymore.
We spent our first night at the Pilot truck stop in Hayti, Missouri. We arrived there at 5:00 p.m. Our preferred layovers are 24hr. Walmarts or truck stops with RV parking. In our 20+ years of RV travel we have found these locations to be the safest locations for an overnight stay.
Total miles traveled today: 454
Tomorrow another adventure begins.
