Rattlesnake
Imperial Dam BLM LTVA
Yuma, Arizona
After spending about three and a half months of camping in the desert, we spotted our first rattlesnake. It was about an inch in diameter and close to three feet in length. It was soaking up the warmth of the early morning sun, while lying in the middle of a gravel road. As our vehicle approached, it raised its head, seemingly preparing to strike. Apparently, the immense size of our vehicle convinced it the prudent thing to do was to live to fight another day, and off it slithered into the dense shrubs on the side of the road.
Tomorrow another adventure begins.
