Chicago, Illinois
We enjoyed a wonderful visit with Sharon’s brother and two sisters in Jacksonville, Illinois over the weekend and it is now time to head for home. We departed Jacksonville at 8:30 a.m. under a clear, sunny sky with the temperature in the low seventies. Steady, gusty crosswinds, coming up from the south, made driving east on I-72 a bit difficult. Once we reached I-55 and were traveling north, we had a nice tailwind that made driving much better.
After traveling 100 miles, we reached Bloomington, Illinois and left the clear sky behind us. The remainder of our trip was under an overcast sky with the temperature dropping into the low sixties. We arrived home at 12:55 p.m.
Our snowbird adventure that began on December 5, 2013, encompassed a 8,532 mile journey that took us through eight states over a period of almost five months. We had a wonderful time meeting new friends, exploring new locations and revisiting a few of our favorite restaurants and scenic wilderness areas.
Miles traveled today: 229
Tomorrow we begin to plan another adventure for late summer, early fall 2014.
