Albuquerque, New Mexico
We awoke to a frigid morning, with the temperature in the high 20’s, here at the United Campground in Durango, Colorado. We departed the campground at 11:30 a.m. and arrived at the Sandia Resort & Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico at 6:00 p.m. Before arriving at the Casino, we stopped for dinner at a Cracker Barrel a few exits south of the Casino off of I-25. We both had one of our favorites, chicken fried chicken with three sides.
We are in Albuquerque to attend the International Balloon Fiesta that is held each year during the second week in October. Finding a camping spot can be a challenge during this event. Fortunately, gambling casinos in the area allow free overnight parking for RV’s. We settled on the Sandia Resort & Casino, since it was close to the hot-air balloon launching field. Upon our arrival at the casino, there are literally hundreds of other RV’s already there. Most of them will spend the entire week camped there.
Time to settle in for a good night’s rest.
Total miles traveled today: 229
Tomorrow another adventure begins.
